Action would also not be possible if those people never knew of what I did. Action is always potential interaction. Even if other people are not present when an action is performed, it is the fact that there are other people who may recount it, and perhaps pass some sort of judgement on it, that makes what I do an action. Actions take place in the world. As discussed above, the world provides both a context and a structure for our relationships with each other. Thus the technologies that form part of the world affect where we go, how we get there and whom we see and communicate with in the course of our everyday lives.

In contrast, with the latter there is the possibility that our livelihood will be withdrawn in response to our actions (such as trying to organize a trade union). 9 This economic dependence is a strong disincentive to political opinions and actions that are critical of such institutions and those in control of them. Conclusions Technology is world-building: technology is how we make the material aspects of the world we inhabit and the resulting artefacts that are put to use.
